AI Movie finder Concept app.
Smarter Search Built on Meaning, Not Keywords.

This concept iOS app shows how AI can power smarter, more intuitive search experiences.

Instead of relying on exact keywords, users can describe what they’re in the mood for — like “a slow-paced sci-fi with emotional depth” — and get relevant movie suggestions based on meaning, not matching words.

Under the hood, the app uses semantic search — an AI technique that understands relationships between ideas in natural language.

It compares user input to a database of film descriptions using text embeddings (AI-generated representations of meaning), and returns the closest matches.

It also experiments with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), a technique where the AI pulls relevant background info before forming a response — helping it stay useful and accurate.

Potential use cases include:

  • AI-powered search assistants for education, entertainment, travel, and more

  • Natural-language filtering for large product or content libraries

  • Personalised discovery tools in streaming or media apps

  • Smart search features for content platforms (film, books, music)

Tech stack: OpenAI API, Supabase Vector DB, Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode, GitHub

This project shows how semantic search can help users find what they mean — not just what they type.

Imagine this inside your product.
